Fire Season Change

For your information, the fire season for the Auckland region is changing on Monday 28 March 2022 at 08:00.

The Auckland Region will be operating in three different zones:

  • Auckland mainland is changing to an Open Fire Season 
  • The populated islands of the Hauraki Gulf (Waiheke, Great Barrier, Rakino, Kawau & Ponui Islands) are changing to a Restricted Fire Season – Fire by permit only
  • All other islands of the Hauraki Gulf will remain in a Prohibited Fire Season – Total Fire Ban

All permits enquiries need to go through our website, www.firepermit.nz, if property owners wish to apply for the same burn as the previous year with the same conditions, they can apply for a renewal.
