Dear Neighbour

The Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth team is planning to start work on the widening of Pūhoi Road intersection this month, in preparation for constructing the new motorway’s on and off ramps. The works includes earthworks, drainage and pavement works. For safety reasons and to minimise the disruption to the travelling public, the work will be carried out at night and will require traffic management.

Work on the south side of Pūhoi Road is set to start on Sunday 14 March 2021 and last for two months, continuing until mid-May 2021. Work will take place at night from Sunday to Thursday between 7:00pm and 4:00am. Please note, all work dates are weather dependant. 

Stop/go traffic management will be in place on Pūhoi Road while these night works happen (as per the attached map).

Dear Neighbour,

NX2 would like to let you know that Pūhoi Road will be closed for two more nights next week. Due to the heavy rain and high winds experienced early in the week, our team need more time to complete the remaining works on the Arawhiti ki Pūhoi viaduct.

A small section of Pūhoi Road will be closed  for two nights on Sunday 21 February and Monday 22 February 2021, between 9.30pm to 4.00am. The dates are weather dependent and may be postponed if necessary.  For safety reasons and to minimise the disruption to the travelling public, the work will be carried out at night.

Signposted detours and traffic management will be in place. As the detours will add a considerable amount of time to your journey, we encourage you to plan your travel for outside the closure hours, where possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the closure and thank you for your patience while we complete this important work..

Dear Neighbour,

Over the next few weeks, we will implement stage three of our Southern Connection works programme. The Southern Connection is where we will connect State Highway 1 (SH1) to the new motorway, north of the Johnstones Hill Tunnels. During stage two of the programme, we temporarily shifted traffic from southbound to the northbound lane. In mid-February, we will reverse this, transferring the northbound traffic to the existing southbound lane. These changes will ensure crews have a safe working area while they progress the works that will eventually connect it to the new motorway.

When will the work happen?

The new road layout on SH1, north of the Johnstones Hill Tunnels, will be in place on the morning of Tuesday 23 February, the changes will be in place for most of the year.

The road layout changes will be formed over a period of two nights on Sunday 21 February and Monday 22 February 2021 from 9.00pm – 5.00am. Once the new road layout is in place, works will continue for a further three nights from Tuesday 23 February to Thursday 25 February 2021, this will enable us to complete the Hibiscus Coast Highway tie-in works.

Stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH1 north of the tunnels while the five nights of works take place. This is to ensure the safety of our workers and road users, while limiting disruption to traffic flows as far as practicable.

Dear Neighbour,

Over the weekend, on the Saturday 13 February and Sunday 14 February between 7am – 5pm, we will running approximately 10-15 trucks a day from our Moir Hill compound to our Pūhoi Road compound. 

Trucks will exit left out of Moir Hill Road onto SH1, stop/go traffic management in place on Moir Hill Road for everyone’s safety.  

Trucks will exit left out of Pūhoi Road to head back to Moir Hill Road compound. 

Additionally, our pavements team will be working on site approx. 1km north and 1km south of Pūhoi viaduct on Sunday 14 February from 7am to 4pm .

There will be more traffic on the roads over the weekend, please take care when traveling during these times.

Pūhoi Road – NIGHT CLOSURE NX2 would like to let people travelling through the Pūhoi area know that we are carrying out finishing works on the Arawhiti ki Pūhoi viaduct across Pūhoi Road. Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth project will be removing temporary barriers on State Highway 1 (SH1) north of Pūhoi and south of Mahurangi West Road next week. For safety reasons traffic management will be in place on SH1 while this work takes place.

The works will be carried out over one night, on Tuesday 9 February 2021. The date is weather dependant and may be deferred to the following night.  Stop/go traffic management will be in place between the hours of 8.00pm and 4.00am, when traffic volumes are lower, to minimise disruption.

Dear Neighbour,

The Ara Tūhono Pūhoi to Warkworth project will be moving the temporary barriers and starting pavement preparation works on Hibiscus Coast Highway near the Johnstones Hill Tunnels overnight. For safety reasons the southbound offramp will be closed. Stop/go traffic management will be in place in the northbound lane while works happen, to enable traffic to flow in both directions.   

The night works are scheduled for Sunday 17 January to Thursday 28 January 2021 (not including Friday and Saturday nights), between the hours of 9pm and 4am when traffic volumes are lower. These works are weather dependent and will be postponed if conditions are unsuitable.

What does this mean for you?

Traffic management will affect vehicles travelling in both directions on Hibiscus Coast Highway, near the tunnels. There may be a small delay while works are happening, we appreciate your patience while this work happens and apologise for any inconvenience that may be experienced.

The Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth Motorway project will be carrying out repair works for 3 nights at nights on SH1. Nightworks are planned for Tuesday 15 December to Thursday 17 December, between9:00pm and 4:00am, south of Mahurangi West Road and north of Hungry Creek Road. The work is weather dependant and may be carried out the next available evening.   For safety reasons these works will be completed under stop/go traffic management during the night. You may experience some minor delays during these works, however the project team will work hard to minimise disruptions.

Dear Neighbour,

API will be Heli spraying 150 acres of regenerated Native Bush along the NX2 Designation Boundary starting next week, lasting  for 6-8 days. This work is very weather dependant and dates may change.

The operation will be targeting weeds; Pampas grass, Wooley nightshade, black berry and gorse and one area of wild ginger. This is an API Forest operation but they will be flying along and over the NX2 alignment during the spray works. The helicopter will be operating at low altitude and needs clear air space, please do not fly any drones during this time.

Dear Neighbour,

Over the next two weeks, the team will be carrying out works Sunday to Thursday nights only in preparation for the road layout changes. Traffic management will be in place from 8:00pm – 4:00am and there will be an overnight closure of the northbound tunnel. The Hibiscus Coast Highway will remain open in each direction during the work.

Due to the wet weather we have experienced over the last week, we now need additional night shifts to complete the works .The road layout changes will now take effect on Friday 20 November.

What does this mean for you?

We ask that drivers keep to the temporary speed limit for the safety of our work crews and road users, drive to the conditions and don’t be distracted by work activity. Motorists may experience longer travel times during this time. We advise planning ahead by allowing extra travel time especially during the weekend and public holidays.
