Just a little reminder that it’s the famous Puhoi Pub Annual Woodchopping Carnival this Saturday, 9th January – 9am onwards. Come along and enjoy one of the best events in the Puhoi calendar! us the Jigger Board compettion will be on again this year – watch brave axemen scale unfeasibly tall trunks with nothing but but a plank of wood between them and a nasty drop, then proceed to chop away at the very trunk they are attached to! Watch men in tennis shoes slice through logs between their feet faster than you (well I) can even get a chainsaw started. Hopefully the weather will be fine, but Gillian assures us that, despite looking a bit slippery, they enjoy it more when its raining because it helps to cool them down!
Come along and enjoy a spectacular event, dating from the days when OSH was just a bad dream…
Due to an adminstrative error (calendar printing perhaps;-) the normal 2nd Thursday of the month Trivial Pursuits night has actually been scheduled for 17th September NOT 10th September, so please don’t turn up at the pub tomorrow (well not for the quiz;-)
At least it gives us another week to swot…
There are 10 places remaining for the July 24 Puhoi Women’s Dinner, with a gratifying number of new additions to the list wanting to try Gillian Seymour’s mixed curries, as well as old hands. And remember the second round of the 2014 series of Trivial Pursuits on July 17 in the hotel bar. And Saturday, July 26 will see an end-of-game-season pot luck dinner at the hotel. Bring a dish to share and arrive at the hotel by 6.30pm ready for a 7pm dinner start.
Don’t forget the first big Puhoi event of the year – big muscular men (and women) exhibiting their choppers on the Puhoi Hotel Lawn from 9am.
